About Us

P1010954Jim – On The Edge Sharpening was started by Jim O’Donnell in 1991. Jim has spent the past 30+ years sharpening and helping sharpeners grow and expand their businesses both independently as a professional sharpener and was the sharpener trainer at Wolff Industries, Inc from 1997 to 2016 where he trained hundreds of sharpeners around the world and spoke at industry events. Since leaving, Jim still trains and speaks as he continues to help improve this industry he loves. Jim also publishes two media tools to help his fellow sharpeners, On The Edge Newsletter (www.otenewsletter.com) and his YouTube Channel (www.youtube.com/user/JimSharpBlog). As a marketer and branding professional Jim has helped numerous sharpeners and cutting professionals increase their market share in their local towns and cities both through sharpening and through the industry leading lines of shears and tools he carries.

Jim has been in sharpening, sales, training ,and marketing all his life and specializes in networking, public relations and speaking both locally and at sharpening and industry conventions and meetings all over the United States. He’s driven to help his customers find answers to their needs! Marketing and networking is about helping others, not them helping you! Jim tries to exemplify this in both his work life and personal life!

IMG_2138Mia – Mia O’Donnell assists Jim in the Spartanburg County area with making sure your shears stay sharp between sharpenings. She will visit your salon every month or two to adjust, oil and test your shears. If the shears need sharpening she will let you know, but this free service will help your shears stay sharpener longer as Mia aligns and adjusts them on a regular basis for you. She also is On The Edge’s shear specialist. She always has our lines of shears with her and will let you try any pair you like for a few days. If you want to test drive a pair, let her know.

Mia is studying marketing, sales and communications. She excels at all three, and when she is not work for you or on her school, she volunteers at a number of nonprofits in Spartanburg as she helps our community.
